UX Case Study: Modernizing the Quick Apply Link Page (Apply Now)
Company: Rental Beast

The Problem

The previous quick apply link page was outdated, with an interface that was both clumsy and confusing for users. Since the primary audience consists of renters seeking approval for a home, it was essential to create a streamlined, modern experience that eliminated any friction in the application process. The old design made it difficult for users to find the right house and apply seamlessly. Given that the application process, Apply Now, was responsible for assessing a tenant’s credit report, criminal background, and eviction history, the interface needed to be simple, intuitive, and efficient.

The Audience

The primary users of this platform are tenants looking to rent a home. This audience spans a wide demographic, from young professionals seeking their first rental to older individuals looking for a new home. As homeownership becomes less accessible, the number of renters continues to grow, increasing the demand for an easy-to-use, efficient rental application process.

Renters often have time-sensitive needs, requiring a fast and seamless experience when searching for a home. A confusing or outdated design could lead to frustration, drop-offs, and missed opportunities. A strong UX experience is crucial in ensuring that renters can quickly find the home they are looking for and complete their application without unnecessary obstacles. The goal was to create a frictionless process that catered to all users, regardless of their level of tech-savviness.

The Solution

The redesigned quick apply link page introduced a clean, modern interface that prioritized usability and clarity. The new design highlighted the selected home with essential features and a concise yet informative description. This ensured that users could quickly grasp the key details of a property without feeling overwhelmed.

One of the most significant improvements was the integration of an easy-to-use application form placed prominently next to the property images. This allowed users to start the application process without unnecessary navigation or distractions. Additionally, the form included functionality to add and edit additional applicants, making it more accommodating for renters applying with roommates or family members.

Given that over 70% of users accessed the site via mobile devices, a fully responsive design was developed. The mobile version maintained the same intuitive experience, ensuring that users on smaller screens could easily find homes, review property details, and complete their applications without frustration.

The end result was a streamlined, modern, and highly functional quick apply link page that significantly improved the user experience, making the rental application process faster and more accessible for all tenants.
